Open Sparring
Open Sparring provides a safe, non-competitive way to challenge ourselves against other martial artists and get to know each other better. Students and teachers from many styles and many schools join together in friendship to learn from each other and have a great time!
Open Sparring is a very uncommon event in which people from different schools and styles come together to train. Originally conceived as an almost anti-tournament, "Open Sparring" was designed with the goal of providing a space for participants to learn without the ego commonly found in the tournament scene.
Regardless of your skillset, "Open Sparring" is a safe environment for you to learn in. Each match begins with participants talking about what they are comfortable with. Often they discuss how comfortable they are with force, as well as comfort level with take-downs, shots to the face etc. Regardless of how you want to participate, everyone will spar you in that way that you want.
Currently Open Sparring has fighters who train in Silat, Shaolin Kung-Fu, Tae Kwon Do, Karate, Boxing, Judo, Brazilian Jujitsu, Capoeira, MMA, Kenpo, Krav Maga, and more.
Open Sparring is always a free event!
We meet every other month.
